SEE IT: Newsmax host goes ballistic, cuts off veteran who breaks with pro-Trump Afghan narrative

An enraged host on the right-wing media site Newsmax cut off a military veteran working to get Americans out of Afghanistan when that guest declined to stick with the script, which first and foremost, meant fealty to “President” Donald Trump.

Host Grant Stinchfield began his interview with Joe Saboe on Wednesday by praising the ex-Army captain’s efforts in executing a “digital Dunkirk,” which has brought hundreds of Americans home. Saboe said he’s still focused on bringing back “a small number” of U.S. citizens who are stuck in Afghanistan due to various technical issues.

Stinchfield said it was his understanding the U.S. State Department and the Taliban were interfering with the departure of those Americans, which Saboe explained as a series of frustrating administrative and communicative snafus more so than a matter of strong-arm tactics.

“Are we in a full-on hostage situation, Joe?” Stinchfield asked.

“No, I can’t comment on that, I don’t think it’s a hostage situation,” Saboe said. “I think there’s certainly coordination problems between the State Department and the Taliban as to agreeing on flights leaving, who should be on them and when that should happen.”

Stinchfield continued pushing the narrative that what’s happening in Afghanistan is a “hostage situation,” which Saboe calmly called “a stretch.”

When Stinchfield worked to politicize the matter, Saboe said “I think multiple administrations leading up to this had multiple opportunities to try to set this up for success and that has not happened.”

With his voice beginning to shake, Stinchfield noted the massive and messy withdrawal, which included the death of 13 American soldiers in August, happened when Joe Biden was president.

“I could tell you this didn’t happen under President Trump and I known there’s a lot of people on the left that want to try to blame President Trump,” Stinchfield insisted. “He wanted out of Afghanistan real bad he was real frustrated not being able to get out, but he didn’t pull out because he knew this would happen.”

Among those who recognized the dangers in removing U.S. forces from a war zone where they’d been for 20 years was Stinchfield’s 12-year-old son, the host said.

“We followed this closely for multiple administrations,” Saboe noted, calling the Trump Administration’s efforts “fairly weak.”

Stinchfield had heard enough.

“Joe, I’m gonna cut you off, I’m already weak, I’m already low on time, Joe. Cut him off, please,” he said to his producer.

Saboe attempted to continue his point, but his frustrated host wasn’t having it.

“Cut him off now! Cut him off now,” he repeated to his TV crew. “You’re not going to blame this on President Trump on my show! That’s not happening!”

Saboe’s feed was finally cut, leaving Stinchfield, who was supposedly short on time, to rant a little longer.

“Don’t come on this program and taking the talking points of the left and blame President Trump,” he fumed. “That’s not helping anybody.”

Stinchfield furiously continued his anti-Biden rant, claiming that his opinion of the situation is also the view held by the rest of the country.

“I’m mad about that man, I really am,” he said before literally taking a deep breath and composing himself. “All right... gonna’ slow it down.”

The clip was first noted by Media Matters for America, which monitors right-wing operations like Fox News, OAN, Newsmax and QAnon. Newsmax was one of three conservative outlets sued by Dominion Voting Systems in August over its reporting of baseless claims that the company’s voting equipment was to blame for Trump’s 2020 electoral defeat.

The outlet defended that it was only reporting on what was being said by prominent officials and their surrogates. One of its anchors literally walked off-set in February when prominent conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell, who’s also being sued for pushing baseless allegations of election fraud, went on a conspiratorial tangent.
