Woman hit when SUV drives onto a Tri-Cities sidewalk. Driver arrested for DUI
A pedestrian was injured early Sunday morning when she was hit by a SUV that drove onto the sidewalk near Highway 397 in Kennewick.
Kirsten Ayala, 26, of Pasco, was hit about 2:15 a.m. on a sidewalk not far from the the cable bridge, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Toyota Sequoia was driven away to the north before it was stopped by Kennewick police, and the driver was arrested.
Francisco J. Barajas Hernandez, 26, of Benton City, was arrested for DUI, according to WSP. He was not hurt.
Ayala was taken by ambulance to Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick. Her condition was not immediately available.
Hernandez was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of felony hit and run, driving under the influence and second-degree assault.
