Woman found shot to death in car on Mall Parkway in Stonecrest identified by family

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - The woman shot and killed along Mall Parkway near a Walmart store in Stonecrest has been identified.

The shooting happened in the 8400 block of Mall Parkway near Turner Hill Road.

Officers found a vehicle shortly before 7:30 a.m. that appeared to have left the road and struck a light pole and power box. Inside the car, they found a woman who had been shot multiple times.

A witness told police they heard gunshots and saw a man running from the scene.

A pink tarp covered the vehicle while investigators combed the area for evidence.

"I love Sabrina. That's my heart," said Brian Johnson, her nephew.

Johnson told FOX 5 Atlanta that the woman's first name was Sabrina, and she was approximately 55 years old.

"I got the phone call within an hour of it happening. I had a nephew that was in the parking lot randomly here at the time. That's his aunt as well. He witnessed it," said Johnson.

He also indicated that she may have been in a relationship with a 25-year-old man.

"Sabrina was a loving person. From my understanding, the guy needed a lot of help. From housing and job situation. She took him in," Johnson said.

"It's a horrible thing that happened. She took somebody in and gave them everything. For them to turn around and pay her back like this," Johnson added.

As the police continue to figure out what happened, family members work to figure out why this happened to a genuine and kind person.

"She was so giving and so open that a lot of people took advantage of that. This was one of those situations," Johnson said.

Police have not released any additional information about the victim or possible suspect at this time.

It does not appear that the shooting has any connection to Walmart.
