Woman accused of using fake ‘Maderna’ vaccine card to enter Hawaii

They don’t believe in science... or spelling.

An unvaccinated woman was arrested in Hawaii after entering the state with a fake COVID-19 vaccination card that misspelled “Moderna” as “Maderna,” authorities said.

The Illinois resident, 24-year-old Chloe Mrozak, arrived in Oahu early last week and managed to bypass Hawaii’s 10-day mandatory quarantine by submitting false medical records to the state’s Safe Travels Program, according to court records obtained by local media Tuesday.

Following a tip about the suspect’s scheme, investigators took a closer look into her vaccination card and immediately noticed a major red flag. The card indicated that Mrozak received two doses of a “Maderna” vaccine at a Delaware facility run by the National Guard, records show.

Investigators checked the document’s legitimacy with Delaware and learned the state had no record of her vaccination, according to Hawaii News Now, which first reported the story.

Mrozak also lied about where she was staying in Hawaii, falsely telling authorities at the airport that she would be at a Holiday Inn Express hotel, according to police.

She was arrested Saturday while trying to board a flight back home at Inouye International Airport and was charged with falsifying vaccination documents, a misdemeanor.

The suspect reportedly insisted that she did get vaccinated at her doctor’s office and that she paid for the shot — even though all coronavirus vaccines available in the U.S. are free.
