Here are ways to help Ukraine if you're in northeast Pa.

Members and advocates of the Ukrainian Homestead came together at a rally in Jim Thorpe on Thursday to spread awareness about the conflict with Russia. Many of these individuals have family, friends and relatives that still live in the country.

Churches and organizations in northeast Pennsylvania are doing what they can to help those in need in Ukraine. Here's a list of ways you can help the effort.

St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church

St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Scranton has invited people to send financial donations on behalf of the Ukrainians victimized by the war.

Checks, made out to the church's name, may be sent to St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, 430 N. 7th Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.

Fr. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor, urged the public to pray for the suffering Ukrainians. They had originally announced that they were accepting goods such as clothing, but Myronyuk said that the war has rendered it impossible to ship these items into the beleaguered country.

Orphan Outreach Ministry

Orphan Outreach Ministry at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Brodheadsville is accepting donations to support disabled orphans in Ukraine.

Friends of Ukraine

Friends of Ukraine is a Christian organization that works specifically with orphans and disabled orphans, as well as other faith-centered ministries.

To support the ministry financially, email them directly at tosupport@friendsofukraine.info. Include your first and last name, amount to donate, and your reasons why (for example, orphans, refugees, or a specific person.)

The ministry will provide a link to payment.

Donations can also be made via paypal: bit.ly/3pDxdE6. Paypal donations are deposited into the Friends of Ukraine organization's American bank account, which may take up to two weeks to clear.

Eparchy of Passaic

The Eparchy of Passaic is currently sending money directly to a bishop in eastern Europe who is helping refugees.

"We know where that money goes, and we trust the people who are using it." Bishop Kurt Burnette said in a statement made via the Eparchy's website.

Send a check to the Eparchy's office, made out to "Eparchy of Passaic" with "refugees" in the memo.

Mail the check to Eparchy of Passaic- refugees,445 Lackawanna Ave, Woodland Park, New Jersey, 07424.

Donors will receive a tax letter at the end of the year.

Many Byzantine Catholic churches in northeastern Pennsylvania and the Poconos are part of the Eparchy of Passaic. For a full list of such churches in Pa., go to bit.ly/3vF3zC4.

Red Cross

Donations made to the Ukraine crisis support humanitarian work in the country.

The International Committee of the Red Cross and Ukrainian Red Cross Society are accepting donations to support the organization's humanitarian work in Ukraine.

Donations support food production, infrastructure and damaged home repair, as well as providing aid to hospitals, schools and other facilities.

Money can be sent as a one-time donation or monthly contribution to the cause.

United Ukrainian American Relief Committee

This long-standing non-profit organization has been at work since 1944, providing "humanitarian aid, education, sustainable land programs abroad, and our immigrant programs here in the U.S."

Ukrainian Homestead administrator Ulana Prociuk noted UUARC as a trusted source for those looking to contribute.

UUARC has stated that all contributions are being used to help purchase medical supplies and equipment, and to provide humanitarian aid.

Donations can be made via the group's gofundme, directly through their site, or by mail at United Ukrainian American Relief Committee, Inc.,1206 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.

Life2orphans

Life2Orphans, Inc. is a nonprofit volunteer organization that has helped orphans and the neediest individuals of Ukraine over the past 20 years, providing donation distribution, medical supplies, food and other support.

The organization is accepting donations via their Facebook fundraiser, or through PayPal.

Donations made through PayPal can be specified for orphanage sponsorship, building repairs or other causes, and can be made once or monthly.
