The city of Bellingham is alerting drivers to increased weekend traffic from the first NW Tune-Up festival, which is expected to bring more than 2,000 mountain bikers to Bellingham and Galbraith Mountain Friday-Sunday, June 8-10.

The Lake Whatcom Triathlon Saturday, July 9, is also expected to impact traffic and parking.

The NW Tune-Up is a three-day festival on the downtown waterfront and Galbraith Mountain.

Granary Avenue and West Laurel Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and public access, according to a city news release.

Chestnut Street will be open only for pedestrians between Bay Street and Central Avenue. Downtown parking, on-street and in lots, will likely be full, the city noted.
