Vote for The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week: Sept. 2 poll
It’s time to vote in our poll for The State’s high school football Player of the Week from Midlands-area schools and games played Aug. 30.
Voting ends Friday at noon, and the winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter/X page that afternoon.
Below are the nominees and the poll, and you can vote as many times as you like. (Remember that this poll is not scientific and meant to be just for fun.)

Chase Alley, S, Swansea: Senior had seven tackles and returned a block punt for touchdown in a win over Denmark-Olar.
Kevonte Bates, RB/DB, CA Johnson: Senior had 19 carries for 137 yards and a touchdown on offense. On defense, he had 20 tackles, a sack and forced fumble in a loss to Branchville.
Boykin Bickley, WR, Dutch Fork: Senior had eight catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns in win over Spartanburg.
Malachi Butler, WR/DB, Columbia: Senior had 227 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, including a 69-yard punt return, in a win over Pelion.
Tydarion Grier, RB, Fairfield Central: Senior carried it 11 times for 129 yards and had four touchdowns in a win over Union County.
Julian Hughes, DB, Heathwood Hall: Junior had 19 tackles and a pass break-up in 30-28 loss to Laurence Manning.
Khristian Jackson, WR, Ridge View: Sophomore caught five passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Northwestern.
Dillon Hughey, WR, Richland Northeast: Junior caught seven passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns in win over Crestwood.
Colione Martin, RB, Chapin: Junior carried it 18 times for 103 yards, two touchdowns and had seven catches for 97 yards in win over AC Flora.
Donovan Murph, WR, Irmo: Junior caught 11 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown in a win over Byrnes.
Sergino Samuels, LB, Lower Richland: Junior had nine tackles, five quarterback pressures, four sacks, forced a fumble and scored a TD in a win over Spring Valley.
JahCory Sumter, DB, Eau Claire: Junior had five tackles and picked off three passes in win over Bethune Bowman.
Andrew Turner, QB, Hammond: Senior was 17-of-26 passing for 339 yards, five touchdowns and also rushed for a score in a win over Pinewood Prep.
Brayden Williams, QB, Saluda: Junior was 7-of-11 passing for 126 yards, two touchdowns and also rushed for 60 yards and a score in a win over Ridge Spring Monetta.
Dontrell Wilson, DL, Camden: Junior blocked two kicks, had three quarterback pressures, had two tackles (one for loss) in win over Lugoff-Elgin.
Amadre Wooden, RB, Batesburg-Leesville: Junior carried it 13 times for 198 yards and three touchdowns in win over Wagener-Salley.
