Utah man falls to his death at Zion National Park
A 43-year-old Utah man hiking in Zion National Park was found dead Friday.
Jason Hartwell was discovered at the base of Angels Landing Friday morning, the National Park Service announced.
A preliminary investigation showed that Hartwell “sustained injures consistent with a high elevation fall,” consistent with reports from witnesses who saw a man fall Thursday afternoon.
Angels Landing is a steep 5-mile trail with “long drop-offs” and chains along the path for hikers to hold on to, according to the trail guide.
In mid-February, 42-year-old Corbin McMillen was also found dead after falling from the summit.
