Two single-vehicle motorcycle collisions leave drivers dead in SC counties

Two fatal collisions on Aug. 21 left drivers of motorcycles dead in separate South Carolina counties.

A motorcycle crash in Berkeley County killed the rider, South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

On Aug. 21 at 7:53 p.m., officers responded to a fatal crash involving a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle that was traveling east and drove off the roadway on Thomas Walters Road, according to a Highway Patrol press release. The crash happened near Timberline Way, 3 miles north of Pineville.

The individual died at the scene, the release said.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s office has not identified the deceased.

A second collision near Anderson County involving a motorcycle killed one person, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash occurred at 9:04 p.m. Aug. 21 on U.S. Highway 29 near Rainey Road, which is 12 miles south of Anderson, South Carolina Highway Patrol said in a press release.

The individual was driving a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle going north on U.S. 29 and lost control, spinning out on the roadway, the release said. The individual died at the scene, officials said.

The Anderson County Coroner has not identified the individual.

Both collisions remain under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
