Two people killed in early-morning shooting at a hotel, South Carolina police say

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a shooting at a South Carolina hotel, according to the Sumter Police Department.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the victims.

The shooting happened at the Sleep Inn at 2510 Broad Street, police said in a news release. That’s in an area of Sumter densely packed with hotels and restaurants.

At about 4:30 a.m., officer responded to call about a shooting and the victims were found dead at the hotel, according to the release.

No other injuries were reported.

There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.

No arrests have been reported, and the shooting continues to be investigated by police, who said they are in the early stages of the investigation.
