Two killed in shooting at downtown Houston nightclub

Two men were killed and two others injured when a suspect opened fire inside a Houston nightclub early Monday morning.

A suspect began firing at the Clé nightclub just before 1:30 a.m. when an off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, who happened to be working security at the club, returned fire, Chief Troy Finner said during a press conference.

The deputy hit at least one man but it’s unclear if that was the suspect. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that one of the men killed may have been the suspected shooter, but Finner could not confirm any identification.

Two men were declared dead at the scene and two others were hospitalized, one in critical condition and one stable.

“It’s a difficult scene, a lot of moving parts,” Finner said.

No arrests have been made yet.
