Tributes to 'loving' man killed in hit-and-run

Tributes have been paid to a "loving" man who died after being struck by a car in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Wolverhampton.

Ryan Griffiths, 29, died in hospital on Friday after he was hit by the vehicle on Burleigh Road, Merridale, at about 21:00 BST on Wednesday.

West Midlands Police has launched a murder inquiry and appealed for the driver of the dark-coloured car involved to come forward.

Det Insp Jim Mahon urged the driver to "do the right thing for everyone involved and to hand himself in".

In a statement, Mr Griffiths' family described him as a "devoted" son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and cousin.

"He had a heart of gold and a lot of loving friends," they said.

"Everyone is devastated by his sad loss and he will be sadly missed."

Police said door-to-door inquiries were ongoing and CCTV and doorbell footage was being reviewed.
