The Milwaukee Bucks won the 2021 NBA Finals last night, and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young was left feeling motivated.

In his third pro season, Young took the fifth-seeded Hawks farther than anyone anticipated, eliminating the fourth-seeded New York Knicks and No. 1 seed Philadelphia 76ers before losing to the Bucks in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Young was painfully close to playing in his own NBA Finals, only to have Milwaukee end his dream season. Now, after seeing the Bucks win it all, the confident floor general has his eyes on the ultimate prize.

“Need to know that feeling, at least a couple times,” Young tweeted as the confetti rained down at Fiserv Forum Tuesday night.

The Hawks’ surprising playoff run this year proved they and Young have arrived. Now comes the hard part: becoming a bona fide title contender.

Atlanta has a strong nucleus in place, but must find the right pieces to add to put its roster over the top. In the NBA, that is easier said than done.

It all starts with Young though, who appears to have his mind in the right place heading into a pivotal offseason.
