For the first (and likely last) time ever, Tom Brady will take the field at Gillette Stadium without a Patriots uniform. In a Week 4 matchup on Oct. 3, the former New England quarterback and his new Tampa Bay squad will travel to Foxborough to take on the Patriots.

During an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio on Wednesday, Brady shared his thoughts on the impending reunion — putting an expiration date on his decades-long NFL career in the process.

“Going back to Foxborough, it’s superb. The last time probably in my career,” he said. “There’s a lot to happen between now and then and obviously I know the challenge of beating a great team like that, great organization, great players, so many friends that are still on the team that were — and still are — my brothers. Unfortunately we’re just going to be on different sides of the stadium this time around.

“I’ve got a lot of familiarity playing in the stadium. We’ve got to first get to training camp and see what we’re going to be and then get through the first three weeks of the year, but I’m sure it’ll be a great opportunity for me to go back to a place that I know as well as anywhere. It”l be a great day for football.”

Through 20 years, 14 Pro Bowls and six Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, Brady became almost synonymous with New England.

But, that all changed when he took his talents to Tampa Bay in 2020. Through his first season with the Bucs, the 43-year-old QB led his new team to a Super Bowl victory. Now coming of his seventh NFL title, Brady will look to add to that total in 2021-22 with a fully-reloaded roster.

The Patriots on the other hand didn’t fair quite as well without their superstar signal caller. In their first season without Brady, the Pats logged a 7-9 record — their first losing record since 2000 (the year before Brady took over as QB1).

The last time these two teams faced of was in 2017 when the Patriots took down the Bucs 19-14.
