Teen turns himself in after 6-year-old was shot in Columbus. One suspect still at-large

A 16-year-old has turned himself into police and one suspect remains at large in the shooting of a 6-year-old in Columbus on Wednesday, according to the Columbus Police Department.

Cameron Thomas, 6, suffered multiple gunshot wounds early Wednesday morning in a shooting in the 4500 block of Tracy Street, according to police.

Deputy Chief Lance Deaton, in a Wednesday press conference, told reporters the child was in “grave condition” and had been playing with a truck in the driveway at the time he was shot.

Makaliah Briscoe, 22, had previously been arrested in connection to the shooting, according to police.

Police said an investigation led to warrants being issued for Zytavius Short, 16, and Robert Walker, 20.

Short turned himself in to the Talbot County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday and was brought back to Columbus, according to police.

Short is scheduled to have a hearing in juvenile court at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Walker is still at large and considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
