Ime Udoka is all set to be the 18th head coach in the storied history of the Boston Celtics. Among the many people giving reactions and quick thoughts on the hire is Fox Sports pundit Skip Bayless.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Bayless congratulated the Celtics for hiring Udoka. The longtime San Antonio Spurs fan said he was amazed that nobody hired him during his years as a top assistant under Gregg Popovich.

Bayless spoke glowingly of Udoka, praising him for how much he is respected and loved by his players and for his “commanding presence.” He ultimately feels that he is a “great fit” for the Celtics.

“Congrats, Celtics Nation, on hiring Ime Udoka,” Bayless tweeted. “I have long believed he has all the right traits to become a great head coach. I was amazed no one hired him all those years he was Pop’s lead assistant. Players love/respect him. Commanding presence. Great fit for these Celts.”

Skip Bayless may have the loudest voice of anyone praising the Celtics for this hire, but he’s hardly the only voice.

The hire is receiving almost universal praise from NBA insiders and fans alike.

Ime Udoka has spent the last two seasons in one-year stints with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets. He got to be a part of playoff runs with both of them.

From 2012 to 2019, Udoka was an assistant with the Spurs, winning an NBA title with them in 2014.

Is Ime Udoka as good of a fit for the Celtics as Skip Bayless thinks he is?
