Simpson sought by authorities following failed drug test

May 20—LIMA — Greg Simpson, the one-time Lima basketball star whose whose trial earlier this month on a charge of burglary ended in a hung jury, has now found his name on the weekly Allen County CrimeStoppers listing.

Simpson's trial ended May 7 when jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict in a case in which the state alleged Simpson had broken into the apartment of his former girlfriend during the summer of 2023. Judge Terri Kohlrieser declared a mistrial.

A status conference between the judge and attorneys involved in the case was planned for Wednesday, May 23.

Court records show that two days after Simpson's trial had ended a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant, signed by Kohlrieser, alleges that on May 2, Simpson violated the terms of his bond by testing positive for the use of marijuana.

As of Monday morning Simpson had not been located, according to a spokesman for the Allen County Sheriff's Office.
