Following a thrilling win over Seminole, the Shallowater football team moved up one spot in the Class 3A Division I rankings, which were released Monday.

The Mustangs (2-0), who made their debut in the top 10 a week ago, are ranked ninth after their 40-27 victory. Shallowater will face Hereford (0-2) on Friday, continuing a stretch of four 4A opponents to start the year.

Idalou (2-0), the area's only other ranked 11-man team, remained at No. 10 in 3A D-II. The Wildcats took out New Deal 14-9 on Friday. That sets up a top-10 matchup this week as Idalou travels to face No. 3 Holliday (2-0).

There was little shakeup in the six-man ranks, with Borden County moving up to No. 6 in 1A D-I. The Coyotes (2-0) downed Meadow 62-14. In D-II, Jayton and Whitharral stayed at No. 4 and 5, respectively, with Klondike falling two spots to No. 8 after a 48-42 triple-overtime loss to the Jaybirds.
