Severe weather possible over next two days

May 20—Severe storms are possible starting tonight and continuing through Tuesday with a threat of damaging wind, hail, heavy rain and potentially tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, Albert Lea and the surrounding area are under an enhanced risk for severe weather for Tuesday and a slight risk Monday afternoon and overnight.

Several rounds of storms are expected this evening and overnight. Large hail up to 1 inch in diameter is possible, along with damaging wind gusts.

On Tuesday, numerous strong to severe storms are expected for southeastern Minnesota. The weather agency states storms could be possible Tuesday morning but widespread severe storms are expected Tuesday evening.

Heavy rainfall is likely Tuesday afternoon and evening, and totals may exceed 2 or 3 inches. This will lead to rises on rivers and their tributaries through the end of the week.
