Severe thunderstorm threat wanes in Brevard County: NWS
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - UPDATE: All severe weather warnings for Brevard County have expired. Original story continues below video:
A special thunderstorm warning for Brevard County expired at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, but now the main concern lies at the coastline.
The National Weather Service said a special marine warning is in effect between the Volusia-Brevard county line and Sebastian Inlet until 6 p.m. That warning carries the threat of waterspouts, which can form quickly and capsize boats, damage vessels and create hazardous seas.
Wind gusts can reach nearly 40 mph, and other weather concerns include lightning and heavy downpours, according to the National Weather Service.
These impacts can be felt at Patrick Air Force Base, Merritt Island, Georgiana, South Patrick Shores and Cocoa.
Earlier on Saturday, a couple of thunderstorms were located near the Titusville airport and Sharpes. There was also a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts over Cocoa just after 4:30 p.m., forecasters said.
