See where Missouri, K-State and Kansas football rank in preseason AP Top 25 poll
Kansas, Kansas State, and Missouri all earned spots in the preseason AP Top 25 college football poll, which was released Monday ahead of the 2024 season.
The MU Tigers are the highest-ranked local Division I team, coming in at No. 11. Mizzou finished 11-2 last year, ending the season with a 14-3 victory over Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
The K-State Wildcats are ranked No. 18 in the poll. KSU finished 9-4 after defeating NC State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
KU, meanwhile, is ranked No. 22 for its first appearance in the preseason AP poll since 2008. Last season, Kansas finished with a 9-4 record after defeating UNLV in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.
Last week, the Jayhawks earned the No. 22 ranking in the preseason coaches poll. KU is ranked in both major college football preseason polls for the first time since 2008.
The Jayhawks will kick off their season Aug. 29 with a 7 p.m. “home” game against Lindenwood at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. Renovations are ongoing at KU’s stadium in Lawrence.
Meanwhile, Kansas State faces UT Martin in Manhattan on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. and Missouri opens against Murray State at home on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.
