Sean Taylor’s Younger Brother Has Very Telling Admission

The Washington Football Team will retire legendary safety Sean Taylor’s number tomorrow in what probably should have been a universally celebrated event.

However, because of the timing of the announcement honoring Taylor, the organization has taken some heat. WFT revealed on just a few days notice that they were retiring Taylor’s number, at the same time as the team has been caught up in the email scandal pertaining to the NFL investigation into alleged misconduct within the franchise.

If WFT was planning to retire Taylor’s No. 21 for months in advance, as some have claimed, at the very least, they botched the rollout of the announcement horrendously. At worst, they cobbled together the plans for a ceremony on short notice to distract from the ongoing controversy.

Judging by comments made by Gabe Taylor, Sean’s younger brother, it seems like the latter. Gabe Taylor told 106.7 The Fan on Friday that he found out about the tribute for his older sibling “four days ago.”

Gabe, a freshman defensive back at Rice University, said his father Peter was the one who told him, but didn’t indicate how long his dad knew about the occasion. It’s possible he knew for longer than this week, though that wouldn’t explain why the team waited so long to make an announcement.

All in all, WFT has managed to turn what should be a special afternoon and unifying event into a disaster. At best, it is just another example of how dysfunctional the franchise has proven to be.

But the worst case scenario is that they are using Sean Taylor’s memory as a shield from the firestorm the organization is under.
