Sacramento native to expand Italian restaurant from New York to midtown. Here’s the plan

Midtown’s food scene will soon make room for another pizza destination — and this one comes all the way from the Manhattan borough of New York City.

Set to open spring 2023 at 1801 L St., Pazza Notte Restaurant’s second location will feature a 2,891-square-foot space with three outdoor patio sections, a brick oven, happy hour and a DJ, according to a news release. Owner Tove Nord, a Sacramento native, said she always dreamed of opening an eatery in her hometown.

“This neighborhood really spoke to us, it has all the elements we were looking for, great local culture, super charming streets, diverse residents and great restaurants and bars...we are in good company,” Nord said in the news release.

The New York restaurant opened its doors in 2000 just three blocks from Manhattan’s Central Park, whipping up recipes inspired by Italian and American comfort food and their grandmothers, according to the website. Twenty two years later and the “Italio-American home cooking” destination will expand nearly 3,000 miles across the country to midtown Sacramento.

“Pazza Notte celebrates all things Italian, the food, the hospitality, the warm and inviting culture with the passion one can only find in Italy,” the New York-based restaurant wrote in its Facebook page.

The shop’s food menu — which consists of nine different thin Neapolitan crust pies, 10 appetizers, seven small plates, eight pasta dishes, one entree and eight side dishes — ranges in price from $6 to $27. The drink menu is extensive, with choices of wines, martinis, beer, cocktails, sangria and champagne.

“We are incredibly excited to open a second Pazza Notte in Sacramento and especially in the Handle District...it’s great to come back with my family and bring our concept with us,” Nord said in the news release.
