A restaurant closes in Belleville Crossing. Here’s what we know about a new place opening

One restaurant has given up on Belleville Crossing but another one still plans to open in the shopping center off Illinois 15 and Frank Scott Parkway.

Buffalo Wild Wings has taken down its outdoor signs and posted a message on the front doors telling customers that the restaurant at 5600 Belleville Crossing St. closed permanently Sunday.

“In these difficult times it has become unfeasible for us to keep the business running,” the message said.

The restaurant manager on Monday referred additional questions to the corporate public relations department, but a company representative has not responded as of Monday afternoon.

The message on the front doors suggests customers go to the Buffalo Wild Wings outlets in Edwardsville at 249 Harvard Drive and in O’Fallon at 1424 Central Park Circle.

While the chicken wing place has flown the coop, the shopping center may have a new place for customers to visit.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers plans to build a new restaurant in the lot just east of the Buffalo Wild Wings site.

Freddy’s expects to open by December, according to a company representative on Monday.

Some site work has been done on the lot but there was no work being done on Monday. Last year, the city approved Freddy’s plans.
