Rep. Ron Wright Dies After Battling COVID-19, Cancer

Rep. Ron Wright (R-Texas) died Sunday after battling COVID-19.

The congressman’s family confirmed the news to The Dallas Morning News on Monday. The Texas Republican is the first member of Congress to die after being diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Wright, 67, tested positive for COVID-19 in late January. He said in a statement at the time that he was experiencing “minor symptoms.”

Wright had also been diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019.
