Public company to relocate headquarters from Kansas to Raleigh area

The Triangle is getting another public company headquarters, as the Kansas-based drone firm AgEagle is relocating to the Raleigh area, bringing with it over 100 workers.

“With the speed at which AgEagle is growing, I believe this move will be integral to our ability to stay disciplined, structurally organized, and rooted in our core beliefs,” CEO Barrett Mooney told investors Tuesday in announcing the move.

Founded in 2010, AgEagle already had a regional office in Raleigh, along with offices in Washington State, Washington D.C., and Switzerland.

The company has seen its workforce multiply in the past few years, from 10 full-time employees two years ago to more than 120 workers in March according to its public financial statements. Based in Wichita, Kansas, the company produces sensors, software and hardware for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which are more commonly known as drones.

It has a market capitalization of around $45 million.

Mooney said the move is expected to take place by the end of the year.

The company was not immediately available to provide more details on where in the Triangle the new headquarters will be. On the earnings call, Mooney said it would be “near Raleigh,” and AgEagle currently has multiple job postings listed for the area.
