Who has power? See latest storm outages from Kentucky Utilities, Blue Grass Energy

A line of cutting storms swept Central Kentucky Tuesday morning, bringing with it damaging winds, rain and tornadoes.

While skies were clearer by 10:30 a.m., there were several reports of damage across Lexington, including a woman injured after a tree fell on her home.

As of 8:46 a.m. Wednesday, a number of power outages were still reported in Lexington and several other cities. Kentucky Utilities was reporting 134 events across its coverage region, with an estimated 7,718 customers without power. That number dropped from more than 12,000 customer affected around 10:30 a.m. the day before

Blue Grass Energy outages have been falling from a morning peak, as well. As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, it reported outages affecting 358 customers across four separate events.

PowerOutage.us, another online tracker, reported approximately 5,300 people are without power in Fayette County as of 8:53 a.m. Wednesday. More than 30,000 were without power in the immediate aftermath of the storm.

Counties with outages reported throughout the day included Fayette, Franklin, Anderson, Woodford, Jessamine, Mercer, Washington, Union, Montgomery, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Boyd, Ballard, Powell, Menifee, Bath and Carlisle.

Kentucky Utilities Co.

To see this map on the KU website, click here. Customers can report a power outage by texting “OUTAGE” to 454358, calling 800-981-0600, by logging into their online account or with KU’s mobile app.

Blue Grass Energy and other co-ops

Blue Grass Energy is reporting outages via map online here. Members can report an outage online or by calling 888-655-4243.

Kentucky Power

Kentucky Power reported at 1:45 p.m. there were more than 12,425 customers without power in its service area, most of them in Boyd, Greenup and Lawrence counties. Crews reported broken poles and downed lines. By 9 a.m. Wednesday that figure had dropped to roughly 5,000.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts up to 102 miles per hour at Huntington, the utility said in a release.

With a cold front forecast to roll through the area and bring rain, snow and gusty winds, conditions could hinder efforts to restore power, Kentucky Power said.
