This popular Miami burger spot is opening at the Clevelander South Beach

The Kush empire is expanding again.

Restaurateur Matt Kuscher of Kush Hospitality, the group behind such concepts as Coconut Grove’s LoKal, Kush Wynwood, Kush Hialeah and Tobacco Road by Kush, is opening a location at one of South Beach’s most famous party spots: The Clevelander South Beach Hotel & Bar on Ocean Drive.

Kuscher will be taking over the food program of the hot spot as well as the former space of Games on Sports restaurant behind the pool to create Kush at Clevelander, a sports bar-style restaurant.

The Kush Group has partnered with a hotel before, with his concepts Café Kush, which will close on Aug. 31, and the temporarily closed Don’s 5 Star Dive Bar at the Selina Gold Dust in the MiMo neighborhood. But joining forces with Jesta Hotels & Resort marks the first time the group has partnered with a major hotel.

“This is a big step for the company and for me,” Kuscher said in a statement. “This opportunity signals a major growth for our brand.”

Jessica Francos, vice president of operations for Jesta Hotels, said the local popularity of Kush properties is what drew Jesta to the table (the Clevelander is famous for luring tourists but locals often steer clear).

“We wanted to bring something unique to the space that locals would come back to,” she said.

The restaurant, scheduled to open just in time for football season this fall, will have plenty of televisions and even a private viewing room for high rollers. Expect the menu to be similar to menus at other Kush properties, many of which are known for grass-fed burgers. The bar program by beverage director Cristina Suarez will offer craft beers and classic cocktails.
