Popular Mexican restaurant is moving to a new Sacramento-area spot. Here’s what we know

La Mini Birrieria — a popular Mexican restaurant in South Natomas — is relocating.

Don’t worry. It’s not going very far.

In fact, the eatery will be moving right next door into an open space in the neighboring building.

La Mini Birrieria will replace Rico’s Italian Pizza, which told The Sacramento Bee in October it was having a hard time staying in business due to a lack of customers and lingering economic effects of COVID-19.

La Mini Birrieria’s new address will be 2660 Northgate Blvd. in Sacramento, according to the restaurant’s Instagram account.

The Bee reached out to the restaurant for comment on Friday but had not received a response as of Tuesday afternoon.

What is La Mini Birrieria?

La Mini Birrieria, owned by a mother-and-daughter duo, is a Mexican restaurant that specializes in Michoacán-style birria de res, a traditional Mexican dish made by slow-cooking beef and soaking it in a red chile broth.

The pair began selling food in their backyard back in 2020, according to an interview with Good Day Sacramento.

After expanding to pop-ups around the Sacramento region, the duo officially opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2022.
