Podcast: Marlins’ offense reaching a historical low. How did it get to this point?

The Miami Marlins’ offense is closing in on history — and not in a good way.

Miami has gone 16 consecutive games without scoring more than three runs, a stretch of offensive futility that has happened just eight other times in MLB history and three games shy of the overall MLB record.

As a result, the Marlins’ win-loss record has taken a hit, with Miami going just 4-12 in this stretch — with all four of its wins being shutout victories.

How did it get to this point? Miami Herald Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez dive in on the latest episode of Fish Bytes.

A note: This podcast episode was recorded prior to the Marlins’ 3-0 win against the San Diego Padres on Monday, so stats referenced are through the first 15 games of the streak.
