Placer deputies arrest juvenile after emailed bomb threat led to Roseville school evacuation
Placer County sheriff’s deputies arrested a juvenile suspect accused of emailing a bomb threat that forced authorities on Wednesday to evacuate students and staff from a Roseville school.
Creekview Ranch School at 8779 Cook Riolo Road in Roseville was evacuated after the reported bomb threat made toward the school, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. The school offers classes for students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade.
The Sheriff’s Office said school officials acted swiftly Wednesday morning by reporting the bomb threat and evacuating all 800 students to a safe location as deputies spent the next few hours searching the campus for any explosives.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office announced that the campus was deemed safe for students to return to class, and school officials resumed classes for the remainder of the day. No explosives were found.
On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that an emailed bomb threat had been sent Wednesday morning to Creekview Ranch School.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies investigated the threat and traced it to a juvenile who was arrested and booked at the county juvenile detention center. They also said investigators found no evidence that indicated the juvenile had the means to carry out the bomb threat.
Law enforcement agencies do not release the names of juveniles arrested on suspicion of committing crimes because they are minors. The Sheriff’s Office did not release any further details about the arrested juvenile.
