An osprey swooped by with a ‘bemused-looking’ pufferfish in its talons.

The bird of prey flew across Vera Beach in Florida with the unlucky fish in its grip.

Photographer Mark Smith said: “This juvenile osprey had swooped in and grabbed the pufferfish then it flew by me. It was a great moment to catch on camera and just a right place at the right time shot.

“I enjoy the fact that the pufferfish has a slightly bemused expression on its face, as if in total shock that it has been carried away.”
