Former collegiate golfer turned sports media personality Paige Spiranac was once a professional golfer. However, her professional career did not last for very long.

Spiranac, 28, spent a couple of years playing on professional tours. She last played in a professional event in 2016. Things have worked out just fine for Spiranac, as she’s built a massive following on social media.

The former professional golfer has become a sports media personality, with millions of followers across platforms.

In a recent YouTube Q&A video, Spiranac was asked if she would ever consider playing professionally again. She said that it’s the golf-related question that she gets asked the most (you can probably guess the non-golf question she’s asked the most…).

Spiranac had some telling admissions in her answer.

“I go back and forth on this one a lot. I feel like I have the game to do so and I’ve always had the game to do so,” Spiranac said. “(Mentally) I just really struggled. When I was playing professionally I was really depressed.”

Spiranac added that she felt alone while she was playing professionally. However, she explained that if she could take a couple of years off from work and be financially stable, she might consider a professional run.

“I would probably change my name so I could enter events anonymously and not feel the pressure,” Spiranac said. “I couldn’t have bad rounds and I couldn’t learn from those bad rounds because every time I shot over 75 I would get roasted in my Twitter and Instagram messages.”

“I didn’t have the luxury of being able to just work on those (struggles) privately.”

Spiranac recently revealed that her best round as a professional was a 64. Her best round overall is a 63.

The former collegiate golfer is clearly thriving in the media world, but it would be fun to see her giving it a go as a professional again.
