Packers tight end Marcedes Lewis broke silence on Monday regarding the team’s honest feelings about the Aaron Rodgers situation.

It was a stressful offseason in Green Bay. Rodgers wasn’t in contact with the Packers for the majority of the year. He then, all of a sudden, came to an agreement with the organization and reported to training camp. It was a pretty stunning turn of events.

The way Rodgers handled the offseason directly impacted his teammates. Lewis revealed on Monday that “everyone was nervous” about what the 2020-21 NFL MVP was going to do about his future.

“I think everyone was nervous,” Lewis said, via ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

We don’t blame the Packers or Marcedes Lewis for previously being nervous about the Aaron Rodgers saga. Green Bay’s future at the quarterback position is rather bleak.

Jordan Love will eventually be the Packers’ franchise quarterback, but he hasn’t even thrown a pass in the NFL yet. Simply put, Green Bay would’ve been in serious trouble if Rodgers retired or continued his holdout.

The Packers can finally move forward now. Rodgers will play in the green and yellow later this fall. All is well. The real question about Rodgers is his future beyond the 2021-22 season, but we’ll leave that story for another day.

The Green Bay Packers begin their preseason schedule on Aug. 14 when they will take on the Houston Texans.
