The Green Bay Packers aren’t known for making notable trades in the offseason, but the front office is reportedly considering the possibility of adding a familiar face to their roster.

On Monday, Trey Wingo had an interesting report to share about Aaron Rodgers. Wingo said the reigning MVP would like to be reunited with former teammate Randall Cobb.

“Hearing Rodgers coming back to GB hinging on trading for former teammate Randall Cobb,” Wingo reported on Twitter. “If Cobb is in Green Bay it looks like Rodgers will be too.”

Some fans were skeptical of that report, but it turns out Wingo’s sources weren’t wrong. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that Cobb could potentially return to Green Bay.

“This is not a joke. It doesn’t mean the deal is 100% going to happen,” Silverstein said. “There are salary cap issues that could prevent it, but Randall Cobb returning to the Packers at Rodgers’ behest could happen. I wonder how Amari Rodgers feels about it.”

Cobb is entering the second year of a three-year, $27 million contract that he signed with the Houston Texans. Last season, he had 38 receptions for 441 yards and three touchdowns.

Although he’s no longer in his prime, Cobb could still help out Green Bay’s passing attack at this stage in his career. His chemistry with Rodgers can’t be denied either, as the two shared some great moments together from 2011 to 2018.
