Owensboro rolls past Atherton into 5A semifinals

Nov. 18—LOUISVILLE — Atherton High School had the sparking 1-loss record coming into the matchup, but Owensboro High School showed that records don't really matter against teams that have Class 5A playoff experience.

The Red Devils rolled to a 43-7 win at Atherton to win the third-round playoff matchup on the road at Jack Kleier Stadium, and they won the 5A Region 1 championship again.

Owensboro will be playing in its fifth straight 5A semifinal next Friday at Bowling Green High School. BG beat Fairdale 51-14 to advance.
