You have one week left to register to vote in Kansas City Council, other local races
Heads up, Kansas Citians: The deadline to register for the April 4 municipal election is quickly approaching.
Candidates for mayor and city council seats in each of the city’s six districts in KCMO are on the ballot. Surrounding municipalities will vote on city council members, aldermen, school district directors and more.
And in cities around the metro, many voters will decide whether to approve an additional local 3% sales tax on recreational marijuana to help pay for various city services.
The last day to register to vote in the April 4 election is March 8. If you haven’t yet, here’s what you need:

Request a paper application to be mailed to you.
A note about finding your local election office: The Kansas City Election Board oversees elections for Kansas City residents who live south of the river, and the Jackson County Election Board manages elections for residents in Jackson County who live outside of Kansas City — think Independence or Raytown.
The Platte County Board of Elections and the Clay County Board of Election Commissioners cover everything north of the river. You can also ask someone at your library branch to help you register to vote.
