One person was found dead in a shooting call Monday night in southwest Wichita, according to a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications supervisor.

Police were originally called at 11:20 p.m. to the 1300 block of South Edwards, which is close to Meridian and Harry. The call type, which was originally unknown, was changed to a shooting call when police arrived, she said. Police found a person dead.

Around 8:45 a.m., police were still there securing the scene, she said.

No other details were immediately available.

This appears to be the city’s seventh homicide of the year, according to records kept by The Eagle. There were 16 by this time last year.
