One airlifted after personal watercraft crash in Opa-Locka

One man was hospitalized in a personal watercraft crash in a stormwater canal in Opa-Locka Tuesday night.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatchers confirmed a department helicopter airlifted the man to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

According to the preliminary information from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission — the agency investigating the accident — two personal watercraft were involved in the crash off Wilmington Street, which happened around 6 p.m.
