The Oklahoman's high school athletes of the week for Jan. 24-30 in basketball, swimming and wrestling

Voting is open for the next oklahoman.com high school athlete of the week ballot for Jan. 24-30.

The deadline is noon Wednesday. Athlete of the week voting occurs each week during all high school sports seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports.

Here are the candidates for player of the week:

Boys basketball

Rickey Hunt, Jr., Millwood: Hunt was strong with big wins against Northwest Classen and John Marshall, both on the road. He averaged a double-double, with 17 points and 13 rebounds against Northwest Classen and 19 points and 11 boards against John Marshall.

Isaac McDoulett, Sr., Tuttle: Continuing his stellar season, McDoulett was strong in wins against Blanchard and Elgin. He averaged 19.5 points and 7 rebounds per game along with 4.5 assists. 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals.

Dylan Snow, So., Yukon: Snow set a school record for assists in a game with 11 in a victory against Westmoore. He also had 16 points for a double-double along with three steals and three rebounds.

Girls basketball

Savannah Nunley, Sr., Luther: Nunley averaged 15 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.3 steals in Luther's three wins last week. The senior was the only post for Luther as the other was out. Nunley scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds against Class B No. 1 Lomega on Saturday.

Sydney Duncan, Sr., Oklahoma Christian Academy: Duncan played strong in wins against Chisholm and Community Christian last week. The senior averaged a double-double — 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead OCA.

Azya Poole, Sr., Carl Albert: Poole continues to be a leader for the Titans as she led them to two wins last week. The senior also eclipsed a 1000-point career total while doing it, averaging 13 points per game.

Boys swimming

Aydan Howard, Sr., Yukon: He set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.28) at the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference meet a couple weekends ago and was part of Yukon’s 200 medley relay team that broke a Yukon record with a time of 1:49.22. Howard also had a strong showing against Stillwater on Thursday, winning the 50-meter freestyle (27.31) and placing second in the 100 freestyle (1:01.46).

Brian Lam, Jr., Carl Albert: He won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.61) and placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:22.88) at the Suburban Conference meet in Harrah on Thursday.

Thurman Lee, Jr., Shawnee: He won the 200 freestyle (1:58.32) and 500 freestyle (5:22.75) at the Suburban Conference meet last week. Lee’s efforts helped Shawnee claim the team title.

Girls swimming

Jacee Jimeson, So., Mustang: She had a strong performance in the 100 backstroke at the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference meet two weekends ago, placing second with a time of 1:04.33.

Macie Middendorf, Jr., Harrah: She placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.65) and 200 individual medley (2:41.49) at the Suburban Conference meet last week.

Nora Weber, Fr., Edmond North: She had two individual victories and was part of two relay wins at the COAC meet. Weber completed the 200 freestyle in 1:07.65 and the 500 freestyle in 5:17.88. She helped Edmond North’s 200 freestyle relay team record a time of 1:43.44 and its 400 freestyle squad finish in 3:46.32.

Boys wrestling

Kamron Jackson, So., Douglass: He pinned Marlow’s Cole Hayes in the 182-pound finals as he won the Clinton Hub City Tournament on Saturday.

Shaun Muse, Sr., Choctaw: He won the 138-pound title at the Big 4+4 Tournament in Blackwell on Saturday.

Quentin Schane, Sr., Newcastle: He captured the 152-pound crown Saturday at the Midwestern Conference Tournament at FireLake Arena in Shawnee.

‘An easy guy to coach’: Stillwater’s Sam Smith adding to family wrestling legacy, chasing another state title

Girls wrestling

Ciena Grate, Jr., Southmoore: She pinned Westmoore’s Aubrianna Smith in the Chickasha High School Classic finals on Saturday to win the title at 129-139 pounds.

Devin Jansing, Jr., Norman North: She improved to 11-1 on the season and won the Chickasha High School Classic championship while competing at 107-117 pounds.

Stacey Nash, So., McLoud: She claimed the 235-pound title at the Midwestern Conference Tournament after pinning Lexington’s Elexa Collins in the finals.
