Will NY Mets' Opening Day at Citi Field be postponed? Here's the latest weather forecast

The New York Mets host the Milwaukee Brewers to open their 2024 season with a three-game series at Citi Field beginning Thursday afternoon.

The Mets already announced that Jose Quintana will get the Opening Day nod with ace Kodai Senga currently shut down after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right shoulder last month as he continues to recover from a posterior capsule strain.

With the first game of the season upon us, fans should be aware of a potential weather issue in Queens later this week.

Here's the weather forecast for the Mets' Opening Day at Citi Field on Thursday afternoon:

What's the weather forecast for Mets vs. Brewers on Thursday?

For those who have already purchased Opening Day tickets or are planning to get last-minute seats to the game, you'd better have an umbrella on standby.

According to the National Weather Service, rain is supposed to start overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with an 80 percent chance of precipitation continuing throughout the day and into the evening on Thursday.

If the game gets postponed, it would mark the second straight year weather has caused the Mets' home opener to be pushed back.

After a seven-game road trip to start last season, the Mets' first game on their home field was pushed back a day due to inclement weather.

With both teams having an off day on Friday, this would be the rescheduled home opener.
