NFL fines Dak Prescott $25K for comments after fans threw trash at officials
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was fined $25,000 on Thursday for his postgame comments related to Cowboys fans throwing things at game officials after their wild-card loss last week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Prescott, after the Cowboys’ 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, stood by angry Dallas fans who were seen throwing trash at officials as they ran off the field and into the locker room.
“Credit to them,” he said.
Prescott’s comments, naturally, drew plenty of condemnation. The National Basketball Referees Association even jumped in to criticize him, and called on the NFL to punish him for "condoning violence."
Prescott then walked his comments back on Tuesday and apologized on Twitter.
“I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday,” Prescott wrote. “I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair.
“I hold the NFL officials in the highest regard and have always respected their professionalism and the difficulty of their jobs. The safety of everyone who attends a game or participates on the field of a sporting event is a very serious matter. This was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”
Prescott went 23-of-43 for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's loss. As a team, the Cowboys committed 14 penalties for 89 yards, which marked a franchise playoff record. They led the NFL this season with 127 penalties for 1,103 yards, too.
