Star of the Netflix reality series “Tex Mex Motors” Rob Pitts died of Stage 4 stomach cancer on Aug. 25, his YouTube page announced.

Pitts, who owned Pitts Truck Service in Greenville, South Carolina, was a car salesman on the show, which focused on Pitts and Marcos Scooter Carrera traveling to junkyards in search of vintage cars to be restored. The show ran for one season in 2023 with the second season in progress.

The video titled “This is Goodbye. (RIP 7/27/79 - 8/25/24)” was posted mere hours before his videographer posted in the comment section of the video that Pitts had passed

“I am with him now in Hospice. He just passed at 21:45 on 08/25/2024. I will be sure to preserve the channel. He will be missed and we will never forget him!” his videographer wrote.

The video addressed his fans while sharing emotional black-and-white photos of Pitts’ life. In the video he said that he had been sick and losing weight before he started to lose his appetite during the filming of season 2, when he was diagnosed with cancer.

“I have a lot to live for and life has been going my way,” Pitts said. “Don’t be sad for me... I accomplished my dream of buying my own store, finishing Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life (wife Randi Foraker).”

Fans poured into the comment section, offering condolences.

“Best storyteller I’ve ever heard. Entertaining, funny, and one heck of a salesman,” one person said.

“I am a 77-year-old man, enjoyed your stories for years. Sitting at the kitchen table having coffee, crying,” another wrote.

“Someone perfectly described Rob’s voice as “honey poured over gravel”. I’ll never forget the man, his voice and his stories,” someone added.

Pitts, who was nicknamed “The Rabbit,” closed his video by telling fans to listen to their bodies.

“If your body is telling you something is wrong, don’t stop until you figure it out. Ask questions and get answers.”
