Sandy Valley golfer Connor Ritter will get a chance to defend his Division II state championship.

Ritter fired a 70 to win Monday’s district tournament at EagleSticks. His round helped him earn the only individual berth to the state tournament, which will be held Oct. 14 and 15 at the Ohio State Scarlet Course.

This was Ritter’s third straight district title. He will be appearing in the state tournament for the fourth time.

Carrollton qualified for state as a team. The Warriors won the district team title with a 295.

Jaxon Rinkes shot 71 to lead Carrollton.

Manchester wins PAC-7 boys golf title

The Manchester boys golf team finished the regular season as PAC-7 champions by winning the conference tournament at Prestwick Country Club.

The Panthers shot 346 and finished five strokes ahead of runner-up CVCA. Brady Johnson came in fourth overall with an 82.

Triway’s Tyler Snyder was the medalist with a 77. He finished three shots ahead of Northwest’s Zach Huscusson.

Huscusson was voted the PAC-7 Player of the Year. Manchester’s Mike Ankrom and Shawn Zavodney were voted co-coaches of the year.

Top seeds advance at sectional tennis tournament

The No. 1 seeds earned berths to the quarterfinals on the first day of the Canton Division I sectional tennis tournament.

Hoover’s Tess Bucher did not lose a game in her two wins. The Jackson doubles team of Madison Altman and Paige Reese also advanced without losing a game.

Second seeded Evie Pryor of Green and No. 4 seed Addison Sheil of Hoover won their matches and will play in the quarterfinals Thursday at Jackson North Park.

Second seeded Angelina Koinoglou and Claire Wood of Hoover, third seeded Divya Shanmugam and Addyson Utterback of Jackson and fourth seeded Cecilia Holben and Bridget Fink of Hoover are in the doubles quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals are Thursday afternoon at 1, at Jackson's North Park.
