After spending more than a decade in the MLB, six-time All-Star outfielder Ryan Braun has decided to officially hang up his cleats.

“Today, more than 14 years after I first took the field as a Milwaukee Brewer, I’ve decided to retire,” Braun said in a video. “While it’s impossible to summarize my emotions, what I feel most is one, simple thing – gratitude. I just wanted to take a moment to say ‘thank you.'”

Braun had an exceptional run with the Milwaukee Brewers, finishing his MLB career with a .296 average, 352 home runs and 1,154 RBI. He was named the MVP of the league in 2011, albeit he admit to taking performance-enhancing drugs during that season.

Although his legacy might be a complicated one for so many MLB fans, there’s no doubt that Milwaukee’s fan base will miss watching Braun suit up for the team.

In fact, Brewers fans are already calling for the franchise to retire No. 8 in the near future. We’re not sure the team is considering that move at this time, but it would be quite an honor for the five-time Silver Slugger.

It’s very apparent that Braun made enough memories in Milwaukee that’ll live on for years to come.

Braun will be honored in a pregame ceremony on Sept. 26 when the Brewers host the Mets. The fans will have a chance to give one of their favorite players a proper sendoff.
