Miami Heat Reportedly Have 1 Major Free Agency Target
After suffering a quick exit from the 2021 NBA playoffs, the Miami Heat are trying to make some moves to get back into title contention next season. And they’ve got one major free agency target to help them get there.
According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Heat have made Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry “a firm target” for free agency. In an effort to get him, the Heat are making a bunch of moves to clear some cap space.
Per the report, the Heat can do more than wait until free agency to sign Lowry outright. Woj noted that they might attempt to work out a sign-and-trade with the Raptors to bring him into the fold.
Injuries limited the 35-year-old point guard to 46 games in the 2020-21 season. But when healthy, he still managed to put up All-Star quality numbers.
As the Miami Heat create salary cap space, Toronto free agent guard Kyle Lowry remains a firm target in free agency, sources tell ESPN. Miami has more levers to pull to create space to sign Lowry outright — or can still endeavor to work a sign-and-trade with the Raptors.

Over the past eight seasons, Kyle Lowry has really come into his own as one of the elite points guards. In the last eight years he’s averaged 18.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.
He was a star player in the Raptors’ NBA title run in 2019 and has made six All-Star games in the last seven years.
The Miami Heat won’t be the only team pursuing Kyle Lowry this offseason though. Whether it’s the Heat or another team, he’s going to get a big contract this month.
Will Kyle Lowry sign with the Miami Heat, or should Miami set their sights elsewhere and save themselves the trouble?
