Massachusetts boys injured in ATV rollover in Whitefield
Aug. 31—WHITEFIELD — Two Massachusetts boys were injured in an ATV crash Friday evening, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
The crash happened about 7:45 p.m. when a vehicle on a private gravel road veered off the trail and down an embankment. Two boys, a 13-year-old and a 12-year-old, were ejected as the ATV rolled and crashed through trees.
Fish and Game said the boys sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Littleton Regional Hospital.
Investigators cited speed and the operator's inexperience as likely causes. Both youths were wearing proper safety equipment.
Authorities reminded the public that it's unlawful for ATV operators under 18 to carry passengers and emphasized the importance of appropriate speed for all riders.
