Man swimming without life jacket drowns in Folsom Lake, California State Parks says
A 37-year-old man drowned Saturday evening in Folsom Lake after he reportedly went swimming without a life jacket, California State Parks officials said.
About 7:15 p.m., state park officials received a call reporting a drowning near the Granite Bay boat ramp in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area.
The State Parks dive team and lifeguards entered the water and found the man 18 minutes after receiving the call for help, said Adeline Yee, a California State Parks spokesperson.
Medics from the South Placer Fire District attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Yee said the man had been swimming and was not wearing a life jacket.
