Man found dead in vehicle after shooting near KC’s Waldo neighborhood early Sunday
One man is dead after a shooting Sunday morning near Waldo.
Police were called to the 8200 block of Kenwood Avenue around 1:47 a.m. on a report of gunshots.
A male victim was found inside a vehicle a block away in the 8200 block of Holmes Road suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Phil DiMartino, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are still investigating.
The killing marks Kansas City’s 99th homicide in 2024, according to data maintained by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. At this time last year, Kansas City had recorded 133 homicides.
