A lorry driver has been charged with drink driving and failing to stop after an HGV was pulled over and a half-drunk bottle of vodka found inside.

The lorry was brought to a stop by police on the hard shoulder of the M6 in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire, on Sunday evening.

Police said the driver was found to be almost three times over the limit when breathalysed.

The 52-year-old, from Cornwall, is due before magistrates in Preston.
